Why PowerPlot exists.
Qualifying a commercial roof and preparing a first proposal is usually careful, human-driven work. PowerPlot helps commercial solar installers and energy consultants do it at the enquiry stage, with estimates informed by how buildings use energy.
Built around how buildings use energy.
A roof can tell you how much solar it could generate. It can’t tell you how much of that the building would use. That depends on what the building is for, and how it uses energy through the day and across the year.
PowerPlot combines published data with independent research to produce annual consumption curves by building type (what the building is used for). The system uses them to size an optimised roof configuration against how a building of that type uses energy across a year, rather than starting from roof area alone.
Combining this with your products, pricing and finance options lets you offer your customers tailored proposals at the enquiry stage.
What goes into an estimate
Roof and generation data
Roof data and solar generation calculations give the starting picture of what the roof could produce.
Industry usage curves
The building’s use and floor area inform how much energy it is likely to use, and when, across a typical year.
The customer’s own usage
An annual consumption figure, or uploaded hourly or half-hourly settled meter data, refines the estimate. Where an uploaded year is incomplete, the missing months are modelled from that industry’s usage curve, scaled by the months provided.
Your products and pricing
Your equipment, pricing tiers, electricity rates and purchase or PPA options turn the estimate into an offer, with the array sized to a chosen self-consumption target.
Estimates are estimates. The result is still an estimate: a usage-informed starting point for a conversation with your customer, not a replacement for a site survey or final engineering design.
Made by people who know.
PowerPlot is made by people who have direct experience in delivering construction services into commercial and industrial buildings across the UK. We have first-hand experience of the challenges of generating informed enquiries for a wide range of customers with different needs. PowerPlot’s goal is to create awareness through consultants and installers and grow the commercial solar PV and battery storage market in the UK.
